Depart from Marrakech for the coastal town of Essaouira. Along the way, visit an argan oil cooperative to learn about the traditional production process. In Essaouira, stroll through the historic medina, visit the Skala fortress, and enjoy fresh seafood by the port. Spend the night in a charming riad overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
After breakfast, head south along the scenic coastal road to the city of Taroudant, often referred to as “Little Marrakech.” En route, enjoy views of rolling hills and small fishing villages. Explore Taroudant’s impressive city walls, vibrant souks, and tranquil palm groves. Overnight stay in a traditional guesthouse.
Leave Taroudant and travel toward the saffron capital of Taliouine. Visit a saffron cooperative to learn about the cultivation of this precious spice. Continue through the Anti-Atlas Mountains, enjoying dramatic landscapes and remote Berber villages, until you reach Foum Zguid, the gateway to the Sahara. Overnight stay in a local kasbah.
Begin your desert adventure with a 4×4 drive across the rocky desert, passing dry riverbeds and acacia groves. Arrive at the majestic Erg Chegaga dunes, where you’ll embark on a camel trek to your desert camp. Watch a breathtaking sunset over the dunes before enjoying dinner and traditional music around the campfire. Overnight stay in a luxury desert camp.
